We have started the third project year
with the task entitled “Sports Day”. Various competitions were held amongst our
primary and lower-high school students. Due to the weather we decided to have
them in the gym. Below you can see the photos of students taking part in
competitions prepared by our PE teachers.

obstacles put on their way; time of this run was measured for every student in
a class

measured and dependently on a number of jumps a proper number of point was
assigned

a circular dartboard fixed to a wall; only 5 throws were allowed per student –

10. First aid – our school nurse prepared special
tasks for students to practise with a phantom; they could get 8 points max; the
first aid exercise was done to show how important is to remember about our safety
while practising sports; our aim was also to teach students how to deal with
life-threatening situations

The most common sports in Poland nowadays are
football, basketball and volleyball. In winter time there is also hockey which
has many followers. For Toruń and our school the most important sport of all is
basketball. In Toruń there is a famous basketball team called Twarde Pierniki.
Its name is connected with gingerbread products that Toruń is famous of.
"Twarde Pierniki Toruń, for sponsorship reasons named Polski Cukier Toruń, is a Polish professional basketball team based in Toruń. The team currently plays in the PLK, the highest tier in Poland".

In 2012 in our school there was introduced a new
profile for gymnasium students – they could choose a sports class with
basketball as the leading sport. It’s been a huge change that demanded from the
school many adjustments when it comes to, for instance, basketball courts and
many other. However, we managed and it was done successfully. Due to this fact,
and taking into consideration Toruń’s history of basketball achievements, we
decided to present basketball as the most common sport for the project. The
link below presents detailed rules of a basketball game.
