A theme day for secondary and upper secondary students (FIN, Vesanto)

In May, the students who had participated in the student meeting in Torun held a theme day for the students in our secondary and upper secondary students. The topic of their lessons was body image and the changing concept of beauty.

They gave a short presentation about what they had learned about body image and beauty during the school year and then they had an activity for the other students. It was actually similar to an activity they had participated in during their visit in Torun. Students were divided into groups and they were given a picture of a man and woman. Then they were given instructions for how they were supposed to change the body image of that person. For example, they were asked "What would this person look like if he/she was a model/a skater/ an emo/...? Then the students drew that person again and they were allowed to use newspaper or magazine clippings as well. At the end of the lesson, each group presented their work to others and the pictures were put on the school cafeteria wall for everyone to see.
