As a part
of Erasmus Plus project we celebrated at school the Health Week (24.11-28.11.2014).
Many activities were held by our students during that time. They prepared
posters and written projects about health, healthy lifestyle in general,
healthy and unhealthy food and other similar subjects. To show the importance
of a healthy diet and eating breakfast some teachers prepared with students delicious
sandwiches. We also had a competition amongst classes of our primary and
lower-high school which main purpose was to choose ‘The most healthy class’ in
terms of bringing healthy food to school. Fruit, vegetables and natural juice
were taken into account. The results are presented below:

English teachers involved into activities connected with the Health Week were also supported by the biology and Polish teachers from the school.
During the Polish lessons students of the primary school prepared recipes for
healthy sandwiches, healthy food and they also prepared adds recommending a balanced
life attitude. During the biology lessons students learnt about the digestive
system (how it is built and how it works), about vitamins and microelements
(what is their influence on the body) and other matters concerning a balanced
and healthy diet. Our Spanish teacher also supported the idea of the Health
Week by preparing with students posters devoted to health.

To stress
that health is strongly connected with physical activity we also had a short zumba
show for our lower-high school pupils after which they were encouraged to try
to copy the movements shown to them by the school dance group MIX.
During the Health Week in our school also the youngest
learners took part in a number of events. In the first form, they prepared
posters encouraging a healthy lifestyle, which proved not only their knowledge
of the topic but also their creativity. Their older friends personally found out how physical exercises influence
their bodies. They checked their rapid pulse after a series of knee bends,
jumps, and other cheerful tasks. What is more, they had a chance to choose
their favourite fruit and vegetable in a voting. In the third form, the pupils
made presentations which helped them to discuss the matter of healthy diet and
sports. All of them, thanks to the programme our school participates in, enjoyed lunch with fruit and vegetables.
Pears and carrots, as well as other ‘tasty vitamins’ are delivered every
Tuesday and Friday.
