The students of Vesannon yhtenäiskoulun lukio studied eating disorders as part of their health education studies. Here is a PowerPoint presentation made by our students. This presentation focuses more on the reasons behind eating disorders rather than telling in detail about different types of eating disorders. The slides have both Finnish and English texts.

eTwinning conversation about body image (FIN, IT)
On 11 December 2015, 6 students from Rimini and 6 students from Vesanto got together in eTwinning's TwinSpace and talked about body image. Here is a short summary of their thoughts.
Body image
in art, media, subcultures and popular culture
Everyone
was quite satisfied with their bodies but there were some insecurities with
weight and height. And some would make some minor changes to their bodies if
they had a chance. Italians had more tattoos than Finns. We thought they are
pretty acceptable in society but we had a few concerns about their impacts in
employment. Tattoos may give wrong first impression of a person and in both
countries elderly judge more tattoos and piercings. Thoughts about piercings
were about the same with tattoos and many had them. We also discussed about
skin implants, scarification. Many thought they are a bit too hardcore. We also
thought plastic surgery was okay if there is a need for a one.

Body image in art (Poland)
In October our students examined how
the image of a beautiful body, and the images of women and men have changed
during the centuries. Our art teacher gave lectures to the students
including main features of every period and later on they created Power Point presentations concerning that subject. They examined changes in every art period and compared them to image of men and women depicted in Polish art.
In addition, students were also asked to paint some pictures using the knowledge gained. Nonetheless, due to the fact that this
topic is not included into our students’ curriculum (therefore extremely demanding
for them) with that exercise we decided to narrow the material to three main areas that is the
Antiquity, the Baroque and the Modern Period in Arts. Those periods were discussed in a more datailed way. As a result many
paintings showing changes into the body image occurring in those periods were
created.
The Antiquity
The Baroque
The Modern Period in Arts
