SI: What do we know about Finish culture? (Poland)

In September 2016 another Erasmus+ project was implemented into our school curriculum. This time our partner schools are located in Germany, Spain, Belgium and … again Finland!

Due to the fact that we have two Erasmus+ projects with a Finish partner school teachers of English dealing with both projects decided to team up and promote Finish culture amongst the pupils.

Lower-high school students learnt about Finish culture from presentations and movies devoted to that subject. Later on they were asked to prepare posters about Finland and Finish customs.

Some of them you can see below.

SI: Initiation ceremony for our 4th graders! (Poland)

14thOctober was the momentous day at our school. Our 4th graders were challenged to complete certain tasks in order to become legitimate members of the school community. There was singing, creating poems, and many other activities. In order to promote values of the project we also decided to implement some activities connected directly with project’s themes. Students had to create healthy menus (with dishes made of fruit and vegetables) and they also took part in various sports competitions. This day was very educational and funny!

An orientation march (Poland)

In October our students partcipated in an orientation march which aim was to promote a healthy way of living combined with some mental activity. Students got maps with historical buildings drawn on them and they had to find those buildings. There were also specific tasks to be completed while on the way. The weather was good, the students were full of energy and the tasks were done in a very fast way - so the teachers were proud of them! ;)

The whole activity was prepared by our biology teacher who deals with orientation marches in our school. In Zespół Szkół no 7 this kind of events has a long-standing tradition. Our students usually take part in orientation marches devoted to biological or historical subjects.

There are many benefits of such an activity, mainly:
- Students develop logical thinking
- They learn content-knowledge for particular subjects
- They have to cooperate with each other - team work is promoted
- All the benefits of physical activities are experienced
- They get to know better with each other and their teachers
- It's just fun!
